GT85 was founded in the 1980s after founder John Chapman noticed a gap in the market for a high quality penetrating spray and an effective, long-term lubricant. 

After multiple experiments he arrived at a successful formula, with help from an ex RAF chemist, which satisfied the need for a highly effective penetrating and freeing agent. The solution was deemed a resounding success and is the same quality formula that you find in your GT85® can today.
